This module will help medical students understand the big concepts, refine and elaborate on those concepts, to see how concepts are applied and integrate concepts by making connections with seemingly unrelated facts across different subject areas or systems.

This module will help the medical student establish a framework for studying. This new method will introduce the student to Higher Order Learning and Critical Thinking Skills, which are necessary to be successful during Medical School and Medical Licensure Board Exams. The framework is composed of four parts illustrated by the acronym F.R.A.C., which stands for Foundation, Refinement, Application and Connections. During the Foundation step student will learn how to quickly and efficiently understand & compress coursework concepts using high yield study aids. In the refinement steps, we propose a method in which the student identifies learning issues to further work on and distill. The Application step challenges the student to use critical thinking and use knowledge acquired to solve real life problems and scenarios. The final step, Connections, reminds the student to step back and discover how concepts are related across different subject areas for integration.
