NHSC Loan Repayment Program Deadline Quickly Approaching!

If you’re a medical student in your last year of medical school, please be aware that the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) 2016 deadline for the loan repayment program is approaching soon. The application for the 2016 application is due by October 22, 2015, 7:30 PM ET.

The Loan Repayment program is available to medical students (MD and DO) who commit to serve as a primary care physician in an approved NHSC site in a specified Heath Professional Shortage Area. In return for 3yrs of full time service or 6 years of half time service, the NHSC will provide up to $120,000 in loan repayment options. Please be aware of the specific program guidelines that include the types of loans that qualify for repayment. This information, as well as an overview of the program and application instructions, can be obtained by clicking on the NHSC link below.

Although the NHSC Loan Repayment program offers medical students up to $120,000 in loan repayment funds, medical students with loan debt from medical school in excess of over $120,000 can work additional years at an approved NHSC site to assist with paying off additional medical school debt.

This is a great opportunity to pay off your medical school debt while serving those in a high need area.
